Autism in the Primary Classroom

Supporting a child with autism can be hugely rewarding but it can also bring challenges. During the day we will look at why certain behaviours can occur and what you can do to address these difficulties. Social scenarios (sometimes known as social stories) and comic strip cartoons are a great way of teaching autistic children about the social world around us. They allow pre-teaching of social skills and responses to certain situations. Comic strip cartoons can be used to develop an understanding of the feelings and ideas of other people.
