When you care for a child with autism it can affect your finances. You might not be able to work or you may have an increase in your expenses.
There are several benefits that you are entitled to claim:
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Carers Allowance
- Child Tax Credits
- Direct Payments
- Carers Credit
Some of these benefits depend on the needs of your child (DLA) and others are means tested (e.g. Tax Credits).
The Family Fund give grants to low income families who are raising a disabled child. Grants are available to buy resources for the child or ease family life.
